Hyderabad, Feb 28 (IANS) Train traffic between Hyderabad and other parts of India is likely to be thrown out gear Tuesday with groups demanding separate statehood to Telangana calling for a 'rail roko', or rail blockade, across the region.
The Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC), which is spearheading the movement for separate state, has asked people to stop the trains by squatting on the tracks in the entire region, comprising 10 districts including Hyderabad.
The JAC, which includes the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and other regional groups, is demanding that the central government introduce in parliament a bill for formation of a separate Telangana state.
Telangana leaders of the ruling Congress and the main opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) have also declared their support for the rail blockade.
JAC convenor M. Kodandaram said the daylong programme would begin at 6 a.m. Tuesday and bring the movement of trains to a complete halt. He appealed to people to make the programme a success by squatting on the tracks in every village.
South Central Railway (SCR), which has its headquarters here, operates many trains through Telangana, connecting cities like Visakhapatnam, Chennai, Bangalore and Delhi.
Both police and railway authorities have warned the protesters that strict action would be taken against them if they resort to attacks on passengers or railway property. The police will patrol important trunk routes and beef up security at railway stations to prevent any untoward incidents.
Director General of Police Aravinda Rao said police were making all arrangements for protection of people and property. The district police, the Government Railway Police Force, and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) are jointly coordinating the arrangements.
He said information and past experience show that there is likelihood of sabotage to railway tracks with fish plates being removed and signal equipment being tampered with or destroyed. These can result in serious accidents, causing great loss to human life.
'Cases will be booked under the Railway Act, 1989, in addition to IPC sections of Law. Punishments under the Railway Act will be more rigorous for offences like stoppage of trains, squatting on railway track etc,' the police chief said in a statement.

Telangana MPs stall Parliament proceedings

http://im.in.com/connect/images/profile/jan2010/Telangana_300.jpg
New Delhi/Hyderabad: Lawmakers from the Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh shifted the campaign for a separate state to Parliament on Wednesday, stalling proceedings in the Lok Sabha and posing a fresh challenge to the Congress-led coalition government that has just bought peace with the opposition.
Telangana members of Parliament belonging to the Congress party, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) that’s spearheading the campaign and the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Andhra Pradesh’s main opposition, forced three adjournments of the Lok Sabha, demanding that the Centre start the process of bifurcating the southern state.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the principal opposition in Parliament, supported the demand, urging Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to make a statement on the issue that has polarized the state of 76 million people and sparked a “non-cooperation movement” by Telangana activists who have vowed to boycott the national census and not to pay taxes and utility bills.
As the Prime Minister looked on impassively, the BJP’s Sushma Swaraj, leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, said governance had come to a standstill in the Telangana region with 400,000 government employees having gone on a “pen down” strike.
A statement by the Prime Minister pledging to bring a Bill during the budget session to pave the way for creation of a Telangana state would be sufficient to heal the situation immediately, said Swaraj.
The ruling United Progressive Alliance (UPA) confronted the new challenge just a day after agreeing to the formation of a joint parliamentary committee to probe alleged irregularities in the 2008 allocation of second generation telecom spectrum and licences, breaking a logjam that disrupted the winter session of Parliament so that the budget session proceeds smoothly.
TRS leader K. Chandrasekhara Rao said on Wednesday that his party would keep the Telangana issue alive in Parliament as long as the UPA government doesn’t spell out its stand on Telangana.
In Hyderabad and 10 other districts of Telangana, a general strike enforced by supporters of a separate state ended on Wednesday after shutting shops and commercial establishments, schools and colleges, restaurants and petrol pumps and taking public buses off the roads for two days. Eleven members of the state assembly from Telangana were suspended for a day and ordered out for attempting to disrupt the presentation of the Andhra Pradesh budget.
In 2009, home minister P. Chidambaram said the Centre was committed to initiating the process of forming a separate state, persuading Rao to end an 11-day hunger strike.
“The government is obviously having second thoughts over the creation of a Telangana state,” said political analyst Mahesh Rangarajan. “It’s a demand that goes back to the 1960s, goes beyond political parties and has very popular support in the region.”
He added: “The Telangana issue is a very major challenge to the ability of the United Progressive Alliance to demonstrate statesmanship. It (forming a separate state) will of course open up a Pandora’s box, but you cannot keep it closed in a democracy.”
Intervention by the Congress leadership persuaded the party’s lawmakers from Telangana to remain calm until 28 Feburary, the day the Union budget will be presented.
A delegation of 11 MPs from Telangana met the Prime Minister, finance minister Pranab Mukherjee and parliamentary affairs minister Pawan Kumar Bansal to seek a speedy all-party meeting to discuss options suggested by a committee headed by former Supreme Court judge B.N. Srikrishna to resolve the issue.
“Pranab Mukherjee has assured us that he would take up the matter after the budget,” said Madhu Goud Yaskhi, Congress MP from Nizamabad. “The government would soon initiate the process of discussions with other parties.” One of his party colleagues threatened suicide in Parliament.
The open defiance of the party line precedes state assembly elections due in West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu and Kerala before May.

Telangana impasse continues in Andhra assembly

Hyderabad, Feb 22 (IANS) The Andhra Pradesh assembly remained paralysed for the third consecutive day Tuesday as Telangana legislators stalled proceedings, demanding the house pass a resolution for formation of a separate state for their region.
Deputy Speaker Nadendla Manohar had to adjourn the house twice amid uproar by the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS), Communist Party of India (CPI), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Telangana legislators of Telugu Desam Party (TDP).

After adjourning the house for the second time, he began a meeting with the floor leaders of all parties to find a solution to break the impasse.

As soon as the house met for the day, Telangana legislators were on their feet demanding the house take up a resolution on the issue.

They also demanded that the house revoke suspension of five legislators for their unruly behaviour during Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan's address to the joint session of the legislature Feb 17.

Three legislators of the TRS and two of the TDP were suspended by the deputy speaker for one week Friday. The house was adjourned without any business Friday and Monday.

The protest in the house Tuesday coincided with the 48-hour Telangana shutdown called by the Telangana Joint Action Committee.

The legislators rushed to the speaker's podium and raised slogans of 'Jai Telangana' when the deputy speaker asked government chief whip Mallu Batti Vikramarka to initiate the debate on the motion of thanks to the governor for his address.

Amid the din he adjourned the house for the second time.

Complete shutdown in Telangana for second day

Hyderabad, Feb 23 (IANS) The Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh remained shut for the second day Wednesday over the demand for a bill in parliament for the formation of a separate Telangana state, with a 48-hour shutdown call evoking a total response.
Normal life was at a standstill in Hyderabad and nine other districts of the region as part of the shutdown called by the Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC).

Buses remained off the roads, shops, business establishments and educational institutions remained closed across the region. Banks, ATMs, petrol bunks and cinema theatres were also shut.

With a section of auto-rickshaw drivers here also joining the strike, railway passengers arriving in the city had a harrowing time.

Buses of state-owned Road Transport Corporation (RTC) remained inside the depots as thousands of RTC employees joined the protests for a separate state. RTC suffered a loss of Rs.6 crore on the first day of the strike.

Police and paramilitary forces in Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana were on alert though the shutdown on the first day had largely remained peaceful.

More violent protests are likely in Osmania University, where pro-Telangana students clashed with police Monday and Tuesday.

Almost all the towns across the region are deserted as people voluntarily shut down businesses and joined the protests for Telangana state.

The Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and other pro-Telangana parties and groups are participating in the strike while the Communist Party of India (CPI) is backing it.

Police arrested about 2,000 protestors, including JAC leader M. Kodandaram and TRS legislator Harish Rao on the first day.

Coal production in state-owned Singareni Collieries Company remained affected for the second day. About 70,000 employees in 38 underground and 140 open cast mines spread over districts of Adilabad, Khammam, Karimnagar and Warangal went off work.

The shutdown has affected daily production of 1.8 lakh tonnes of coal worth Rs.28 crore.

Telangana legislators suspended from Andhra assembly

Hyderabad, Feb 23 (IANS) Twelve Telangana legislators were suspended from the Andhra Pradesh assembly for one day Wednesday as they stalled the proceedings, demanding the house to pass a resolution for the formation of a separate Telangana state.
Deputy Speaker Nadendla Manohar announced the suspension of eight legislators of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) and four of the Communist Party of India (CPI) after Legislative Affairs Minister Sridhar Babu moved a resolution.

The TRS legislators, including floor leader E. Rajender and Tarakarama Rao, son of party chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao, were suspended as they refused to leave the podium of the house.

The suspended legislators refused to leave the house despite appeals by the deputy speaker and continued raising slogans of 'Jai Telangana', disrupting the budget speech of Finance Minister Anam Ramnarayan Reddy.

Earlier, the house was adjourned twice as the pro-Telangana legislators stalled the proceedings, demanding a resolution on Telangana and release of protesters arrested during the ongoing 48-hour Telangana shutdown.

For the fourth consecutive day, Telangana legislators tried to stall the house. After the budget speech, the deputy speaker adjourned the house till Friday.

The deputy speaker Feb 18 had suspended three legislators of TRS and two of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) for one week for their unruly behaviour during Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan's address to the joint session of both houses a day earlier.

Sexy Shakira in Concert ...

Sexy Shakira in Concert ...

Sexy Shakira in Concert ...

Shakira Isabel mebarak Ripoll was born on a wednesday, february 2,1977, in the Clinica Asuncion de Barranquilla (Colombia). Daughter of a respected jeweler of lebanese descent, Don William Mebarak Chadid, and his Colombian wife, Nidia Ripoll Torrado, The child was the couple's blessing and their only daughter. In naming the newborn, Nidia had shuffled through several names containing the letter "K" to go well with the sound of the "K" in Mebarak.
She had considered Karime and Katiuska but finally chose Shakira, an arabic name derived from the word "Shukram which means "Grace" the most literal translation is "woman full of Grace" , even though Shakira has said she identifies more with its second meaning, "Grateful."
Colombians said that the newborn was chubby and had curly hair, thick eyebrows, and a healthy set of lungs. What nobody knew was that those lungs would inscribe her name in Music History

Her father william mebarak was born in NY, but shortly after he was born his family moved to Barranquilla. Nidia ripoll Torrado, on the other hand was born in Barranquilla and has Catalan blood. When they Married, Don Willian was divorce and already had seven children from his previous marriage, so Shakira came into this world as the youngest child with quite a few siblings willing to spoil her. Don William has been a key figure in Shakira's formation and sibility.
When Shakira was a child, Nidia discovered that Shakira had a gift for writing. According to Colombian Columnists, Shakira Knew the Alphabet by the age of eighteen months, at three she knew how to read, and by the time she was four, she was ready for school. It seemed as though she Might have been a child prodigy. At least that's what Nidia believed, so she had her academically tested to determine if the little girl was a genius.
Shakira lived alone with her parents, though it was quite frequent for her half siblings to come over, be it to baby-sit or to play with her, since they live only a few blocks away. that may be why when Shakira talks about her family she includes her brothers and sisters (omitting the "Half") as well as her parents. Of all her father's children, Shakira never met her oldest half brother because he died before she was born. Her oldest sister Lucy is a surgeon, Alberto her brother is a lawyer, Moises is the thrid child, Tonino is the fourth child and the closest to Shakira, having worked many years as her road manager. Then is Patricia who lives in Spain, she is a special education teacher, and finally there is Antonio and Edward, the youngest who lives in Miami

La ensenanza de Barranquilla, a traditional school founded and administered by nuns from the order of Mary, was not just where Shakira learnt her arithmetic and her geography, but also where she began to learn the catholic faith, a cornerstone of her formation. In these cloisters, between religion classes and drawing assignments, between numbers and vowels, the tiny hurricane began to discover aspects of her personality that she did not know existed -or rather, that nobody knew existed.
Because She was Short, Shakira was always the first in any line. She loved that because she loved attention, and that was the easiest way to get it. But shortly after starting school, she found a more original and legitimate way to become the center of attention. as she often says, dancing was her first way of expressing herself. "My first encounter with dance was when i was four years old and I began to belly dance." What is curious is that no one had taught her. "It's proof that a collective, genetic memory really exist because as long as i've been aware, as soon as I hear the beat of a Derbeque my hips begin to move instantly, without any effort at all"

In school shakira was sensible and disciplined, but also absentminded. In class she just did not pay attention. she immersed herself in writting lyrics on the back of her notebooks, but even thought She had the capacity to catch on to everything very quickly because anytime the teacher would catch her, she would look up at the board and almost immediately figure out where she was. As soon as the bell rang, Shakira was the first one to run and get in line for the cafeteria, she used to drink pepsi with a pastry with dulce de leche and she would get mad if you would ask her for some.

Story

Jayamma (Smriti Irani) family consists of martyrs of Telangana for three generations. Her son Varshit (Sandeep) falls in love with a girl (Meera Nandan) from Vijayawada. The demand for a separate Telangana resurfaces as their love blossoms. Her parents want to marry her off to a youth politician from Vijayawada. Varshit’s friend Chari immolates himself for the sake of separate Telangana state. The death of Chari instigates the youth. Varshit is all out to fight for a separate state. The rest of the story is all about the love between the lead pair and the struggles of Telanagana movement.

Artists Performance:

Jagapati Babu done three roles and he is convincing as Telangana martyr. It is a guest role for him though it is vital to the story of the movie. Smriti Irani is impeccable as the lady who inspires the people around. Gaddar danced for his own song and he is extremely energetic and inspiring on the screen. The guy who did the role of Chari is commendable. The couple who acted as leads (Sandeep & Meera Nandan) are alright. Most of the cast in the film adds freshness (except for AVS, Nagineedu, Janardhan Maharshi, Siva Reddy).

Technical Departments:

This movie has a love story set against the backdrop of the current Telangana movement. Director Shankar who has always been good when it come to capturing social problems made sure that there is an emotion while narrating the real incidents and struggles in the villages of Telanagana. However, the love story is not effectively narrated. He has juxtaposed the TV clippings with the happenings in the movie. Since Telangana is an ongoing problem, the director didn’t give any typical climax to the movie, but stated the wish of Telanagana fighters. Making a film on a subject like this is a difficult task. As a director Shankar has succeeded in showing the problems faced by Telangana people in villages. He has also criticized selfish leaders from all areas (including Telanagana).

Music by Chakri is very good. Jai Bolo Telangana song and Gaddar songs are excellent. The title song was used as background music in key moments. I loved Gaddar’s awesome performance on screen in a song. Cinematography is alright. Editing by Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao is fine. Dialogues are well written.

Highlights

* Gaddar’s song is hysterical and stands as best highlight
* ‘Ok Puvvu Oka Navvu’ song picturization
* Music for songs on a whole
* AVS-Janaradana Maharshi comedy
* Heroine Meera Nandan

Drawbacks

* Technical values
* Love Story

Final Analysis:

Since it is a film made on a burning political issue and since this movie is made to support a cause. The film gets interesting after the lead pair visits a village in Telangana. The entire second half concentrates on struggles of Telangana. The love story part of the movie should have been dealt in a more interesting way. However, Shankar made it up with realistic portrayal of Telangana fight in the current scenario. On a whole, Jai Bolo Telangana attempts at realistic portrayal of struggle and mindset of people in Telanagana.
